Does the netting on the top level cover the entire (17x34x16) trapezoid?
Will the ball be able to bounce out from hitting the extruded bars inside the trapezoid?
By the base of the top platform, do you mean the netting is hung at the height of 59″? Is the netting strung loosely, hanging below the platform?
While it may be possible for a POLLUTANT to bounce out by hitting the extrusion, the intent of the netting is to minimize those kinds of interactions and reduce the amount of shots that bounce out. Please note that a POLLUTANT that bounces out is not considered scored.
As specified in the field drawings the Top Goal Lip is 59″. This means that the top of the polycarbonate that is used to surround the goal has a leading edge at 59″. The netting will be hung lower than that edge to minimize the amount of balls that bounce out.
The netting will be strung loosely to help minimize bouncing. This does not mean that the net will hang below the platform but it may hang below in certain scenarios.
